What is Job Shop?

 The FCS Job Shop is a highly flexible and customisable job board application. Out of the box we offer tried and tested scripts that deliver a friendly and intuitive interface for your prospective candidates to search and view your jobs online and easy access to advanced features like email alerts and a shopping cart style method of applying to multiple jobs from a single form.

 At First Choice Software our web developers have many years of experience in both website design and application development. This means that should you require extended functionality or a careful re-branding / merge with an existing website, then we are always able to discuss customisation of the core Job Shop product.

 Job Shop is now in its third major version and has recently been recoded from the ground up to ensure that incremental improvements added in recent years are programmed into the core of the application. This means that when you purchase Job Shop you can be sure that our features are all designed to work in unison and benefit from the peak of our programming experience.




What do I get?

 Although Job Shop is designed to be as big or as small as you are, the base product you'll buy is 'Job Shop v3.0'. Out of the box you get everything you see on this site, except the email alerts module. We can streamline the interface by replacing the searchable fields with direct links to preset searches of your jobs or expand on the available searchable fields using custom fields from your RDB database.

The price of Job Shop includes a year's hosting, technical support and the following features:
  • Quick and Advanced Search screens with fields populated from your job data.
  • Full candidate registration system including CV sending.
  • Job cart system allowing users to collect jobs into a single manageable list.
  • Pre-populated application form for registered users.
  • 10 Latest Jobs listed on the Advanced Search screen.




Personalisation?

 Your web site will often be the first point of contact for new candidates so it's imperative that it carries your company branding and tells a user what they can expect from your service. Therefore, basic re-branding is included in the price of Job Shop. Often we are asked to build the application into a pre-existing website, at its most basic level Job Shop can be fitted into any layout that provides enough space to show the search, results and details pages.

 If you do not have a pre-existing web site we can design one with you. With guidance from our web designers we will help build a virtual storefront for your business with space for your static content such as About Us and Contact Us pages.

What customisation is included in the price of Job Shop?
  • Replace the Job Shop logo with your company's logo.
  • All colours on the site including backgrounds can be changed.
  • Fonts and font-sizes can be adjusted to meet your requirements.
  • If fitting into your current site, the quick Search box can be moved or removed.
  • Removal of standard functionality.
  • Optional hosting of the Job Shop pages on our server shown through a frame on your existing site.
  • Hosting of your current website on our server with a retro-fit Job Shop into your current pages.

Examples of chargeable customisations include:
  • Complete site design including static copy content about your company.
  • Implementation of additional modules such as email alerts and content manager.
  • The contents of all Job Shop screens can be adjusted to your specification.
  • Searchable fields can be added / changed on the Quick and Advanced Search screens.
  • Custom fields can be displayed on the results and details pages.
  • Sorting buttons and grid type views can be used on the results list.

Job Shop v3.0 uses a combination of frames and templates to deliver a truly customisable interface.

The layout of the site is defined by the main template; into this template we define areas for the Quick Search and the Main Window.

Using an 'inline frame' the Job Shop pages can be viewed in place on your existing website.

What do you need from me?
the fine print:

 Once we have a signed purchase order and an agreed specification, we can begin building your site. We will schedule the development and keep you informed on the project's progress.

 At intervals during development we will ask you to review a copy of the site hosted on a development server. This will allow you to verify that we have met the specification correctly and once we have completed development and allow you to sign off the project. During this sign-off phase you may wish to make adjustments to parts of the specification. If these changes require extra development over and above the specification, we may have to charge for the extra time required to re-develop the application.
As the owner of the site it is your responsibility to sign-off on the application. This means that, although we will always thoroughly test the application, you must have the final say that the site is working as you would like it to. Additionally, First Choice Software cannot pledge to check content that you supply for grammatical, spelling, or accuracy errors.
After a project has been signed off, any further development will be chargeable.

 Once the application is signed off we will be ready to officially launch the site. To do this you will need to be the owner of a domain name (i.e. www.rdbpro.co.uk). We will move the application to our live web server.
